though i do think self-diagnosing is just plain old offensive let’s be real

i understand being concerned that you might have something. even saying “i think i might have depression/anxiety/etc.” is cool, whatever. we all have those moments or situations.

but just because you feel as if you might doesn’t mean you do and it can be very offensive/hurtful to people who actually suffer from/are close to those who suffer from mental illnesses.

i’ll be honest- i know a lot of people i personally think have undiagnosed depression or anxiety or etc. and i wish they would get help. but that doesn’t mean i should go around telling them that they have OCD or an eating disorder.

concern for yourself or others in one thing. self-diagnosis is another. and as someone who has watched so many of the people i’m close to suffer silently because they feel like their pain isn’t real because there’s no doctor’s note (and they don’t want one) it just makes me a little mad seeing folks go crazy with the labels.
